The “Aha Moment” method

Watch one root become six words

Three Arabic letters grow, step by step, into a whole family of words.

Scroll down to watch it grow

Step 1 of 5

  1. 01

Most Arabic words grow from a root

Usually just three letters, like the roots of a tree. Learn the root and a whole family of words opens up.

  2. 02

    The root holds an idea

The letters ك ت ب carry the idea of writing. In its simplest form the root becomes كَتَبَ: he wrote.

  3. 03

    Patterns shape the meaning

Pour the root into a pattern and the meaning shifts: the person who writes, and the thing that is written.

  4. 04

    Things and places follow

The same root gives us a book, a desk and a library. Different patterns, one family.

  5. 05

    That’s the Aha moment

Look closely: the same three letters, ك ت ب, run through every word. Once you see the pattern, you can work out words you have never met. This is how Esa teaches grammar: rules turned into simple, logical steps.

In their own words

Esa Ali has been an Arabic teacher to both my kids, my husband and I. We are all English speaking and did not have much knowledge of the Arabic language. Esa's classes were very interactive which made it easy to understand. … I will definitely recommend Esa as an Arabic teacher for kids and adults both. He is thorough, interactive and efficient. Sign on with him today and you definitely won't regret it.

For many many years I had attempted to learn the Arabic language to no avail and after what I thought was the tipping point in that I would never be able to learn Arabic I met teacher Esa. And not only has he helped me in my Arabic and Islamic studies journey incredibly but he has also been a mentor and supportive friend who I could always count on for giving healthy and productive advice. Truly one of the best teachers one can hope to find…
